Well, good morning to you too, Saturday

Well holy shit did this morning not quite get off to the best start.

The kids woke up at 4am despite being extremely sleep deprived from their 2am wake up yesterday. Yes, I did say 2am. They are also both currently sick with a cold right now, so now I have 2 sick, sleep deprived children. Now THATS a recipe for a good day. Oh yeah, and my 6 year old is on steroids now too, to top it off.

At 5:40 we hear a loud crash…and then crying. So…that’s always a good sign…right?

So my husband goes in there and I look at the monitor, and sure enough, their bookshelf is laying face first on the ground.

My 4, almost 5 year old, my wild child, the sweetest boy in the whole world but the boy without any sense…decided he “wanted to clean behind the bookshelf”, so he pushed it forward. Thankfully, no children were squished in the mornings events, but they sure were startled.

My husband and I dealt with it (and by that, I mean we’re getting rid of the bookshelf, which used to be MINE when I was a child, so…it’s old.) And replacing it with something new. Okay. Great.

Their room also smells quite potent of…sunscreen? But hey…we’re going to choose our battles this morning and move on. At least, that’s my plan. And I think my husbands plan too.

My mom was less…um…able to move on? So I got an earful from her about it. But, fine. I get it. Sometimes, as I told my 6 year old this morning…sometimes you just need to learn how to shut your damn mouth and say yes ma’am.

The kids are off and out of the house on their early morning adventure to Target! Yay, Target! Why? Because we need more children’s mucinex. Yayyyyy cold season!

This was not the post I planned on writing this morning, but…parenting. Am I right? If it’s not one thing, it’s another.

I’m in a surprisingly…fuck it kind of mood right now for how my morning started off, which I’m going to take as a good thing.

It’s going to be a tough weekend. My kids will not be in good moods. But I can prepare for it, and not let it get to me.

I can be okay, even if everyone else around me is grumpy.

    1. Oh yes, Christian has some big plans to watch Charlie and the Chocolate Factory today 😂 it will definitely be a “let them watch tv” kind of weekend

  1. You don’t neccesarily have to get rid of the bookshelf. They sell dresser/furniture achors for baby proofing. Years ago there were a few accidents involving Ikea baby dressers because, babys being babys, they tried to climb on the dresser, and it tipped over on them. Ikeas answer was to start handing out furniture achors in stead of a recall. There was a big scandal. But anyway, there’s furniture anchors. I haven’t personally used any so I don’t know what’s good, but something like this link is what I’m thinking of. https://www.amazon.com/Furniture-Proofing-Anchors-Earthquake-Resistant/dp/B08C7T7L95/ref=asc_df_B08C7T7L95?tag=bingshoppinga-20&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79989562814085&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=&hvtargid=pla-4583589111729411&psc=1

    1. Yeah that’s true too. I might see if the bookshelf we have is fixable, and if it is we’ll probably do that. That thing is literally probably at least 25 years old, so it’s been through a lot 😂

Oh wow, what a morning adventure! 😅 Parenting is full of surprises, isn’t it? Kudos to you and your husband for handling the bookshelf incident like pros. It sounds like you’re taking it all in stride despite the chaos, and that’s seriously impressive.

As for the sunscreen-scented room, well, it adds a unique twist to the day, right? Sometimes, we just have to embrace the unexpected. And yes, “parenting – if it’s not one thing, it’s another” is the perfect way to sum it up!

Wishing you lots of patience and positive vibes for the weekend. You’ve got this! 💪🌟 And enjoy that Target adventure – because who doesn’t love a good Target run? 😄🎯

Cheers to rolling with the punches and keeping that “fuck it” attitude! 🙌🤣

    1. It was definitely a “laugh so do don’t cry” kind of morning, but you really just have to roll with it sometimes 😂

I will definitely take the sunscreen over the horrific nail polish incident from a few weeks ago…THAT one was brutal 😳😅
