Surgery days are hard

This morning is another surgery day. This time, for our 5 year old. It isn’t his first, and he’s more upset about having to be hungry (fast) than of being in the hospital.

He’s having his adenoids taken out and his nose cauterized. He can literally never breathe, and we’re hoping this helps. His adenoids are basically completely obstructing him, so they wanted to take them out rather immediately. He just saw the ENT last week and they already got him in.

He’s my firecracker who has a hard time waiting…but he’s all dressed and has bluey on the hospital tv in front of him. Bluey saved the day, for now, and he’s happy as can be expected.

The last time he had surgery, he was extremely sensitive to the anesthesia and was wayyy too deeply sedated. They had to reverse it before they got started because he wasn’t breathing well. So of course I’m nervous.

3 years ago, right before he turned 2.

It should be a quick(ish) surgery, faster than his last one was. I’m hoping he recovers quickly and easily…but every surgery is one I wish they didn’t have to go through.

Of course they have nothing on my…12? major orthopedic surgeries…I still hold that title. But hey. At least they have a parent who really truly gets it.

Here’s to hoping we feels good enough to eat real food again by Christmas. That’s my hope.

doing my best! Just nervous they’re going to find something that they didn’t anticipate. That’s definitely a possibility when it comes to these kids
